Meet Solstice

Estimated Date of Birth: 2016
Female Husky Mix

Solstice first came into our care as a newborn who had to be bottlefed. A confident, loving baby, she was quickly adopted. Sadly, she was returned a few years later: fearful, underweight, full of worms, and covered in fleas. It took years for her to regain her confidence, and she became a loving, sporty dog who enjoyed frisbee, swimming, and hiking. But once again, tragedy struck. Though only middle age, she was stricken by SARDS (Suddenly Acquired Retinal Degeneration). She could see one day, then without warning, became blind. She is once again learning to regain confidence, and is looking for a patient, and loving family to help guide her through the darkness. She would do best in a calm home with no kids, cats, or small dogs.

Solstice first came to FAAR as an underage puppy. She was dehydrated and covered from head to toes in ticks. She was nursed back to health by her fosters, and adopted. Two years later, she was returned. She was underweight, infested with fleas, and filled with tapeworm. Sadly, she has developed trust issues with strangers due to not being properly socialized or trained. She is currently in training with her fosters, and also excels in hiking, camping, swimming, and is learning dock diving.
